Motion Brush is a video generation control that lets you draw paths directly on a frame to specify how objects, characters, or the camera should move. Instead of describing motion in words ("the ball moves from left to right") — which the model may interpret loosely — you paint the exact trajectory on the frame with your cursor. The model then generates video where the selected element follows that path. This provides a level of motion precision that text prompts fundamentally cannot: you specify not just direction but the exact curve, speed (by path density), and endpoint of the movement.

Draw paths on any element in the frame

Click on an object, person, or region in your image, then draw the path you want it to follow. Kling 3.0 identifies the selected element and generates motion along your drawn trajectory. Works on foreground subjects, background elements, and even the overall camera viewpoint.

Multiple simultaneous motion paths

Draw separate paths for different elements in the same frame. A person walks left while a bird flies right and the camera slowly tilts up. Each path is independently controlled. The model resolves interactions between the moving elements — occlusion, shadows, parallax — automatically.

Speed control through path density

The spacing of your brush strokes indicates speed. Dense, short strokes mean slow movement. Long, widely spaced strokes mean fast movement. This gives you temporal control beyond just direction — a slow approach that accelerates into a sprint is a single drawn path with changing density.

Camera path drawing

Instead of selecting an object, draw a path on the background to specify camera movement. A straight horizontal line creates a pan. A curved line creates an arc. A line toward the subject creates a push-in. This replaces text-based camera instructions ("dolly in", "pan left") with exact spatial control.

Works with image-to-video and text-to-video

Use Motion Brush with uploaded images (image-to-video) or with generated first frames from text prompts. In both cases, draw your paths on the first frame before generating the full video clip.

Path preview before generation

After drawing, Kling 3.0 shows a ghost overlay of the drawn path on the frame so you can verify the trajectory before spending generation credits. Adjust or redraw paths until the preview matches your intent, then generate.

How to use

Open Sunra Video with Kling 3.0

Go to Sunra Video and select Kling 3.0 from the model dropdown. Upload an image or generate a first frame from a text prompt.

Activate Motion Brush mode

Click the Motion Brush button in the toolbar above the frame preview. Your cursor changes to a brush indicator. The frame is now ready for path drawing.

Select an element and draw its path

Click on the element you want to move (a person, an object, the background for camera motion). Draw the path you want it to follow with your mouse or trackpad. The path appears as a colored line on the frame. Draw slowly for slow movement, quickly for fast movement.

Add additional paths for other elements (optional)

Click a different element and draw another path. Each element gets a different color indicator. You can add up to 5 motion paths per frame. Use the eraser tool to remove or redraw any path.

Preview, adjust, and generate

Review the ghost overlay showing all drawn paths. Adjust any path by clicking it and redrawing. When satisfied, click Generate. Kling 3.0 renders the video with each element following its assigned trajectory.

Draw an exact camera orbit path around a product image — a smooth arc, a zigzag reveal, or a spiral descent. Text prompts like "orbit the product" produce unpredictable arc angles and speeds. Motion Brush lets you draw exactly the camera path a commercial director would specify on set.

Direct character movement through a scene the way a director blocks actors on stage. Draw a path showing a character entering from the left, pausing at the center, then exiting right. Tips & best practices

Draw paths that respect physics

Motion Brush works best when paths follow physically plausible trajectories. A person walking in a smooth curve looks natural. A person teleporting in a zigzag creates artifacts. The model tries to follow your path exactly, but it also tries to maintain physical plausibility — conflicting signals produce poor results.

Start with a single path before adding complexity

Multi-element paths with 4–5 elements interacting are harder for the model to resolve. Start with one path on the main subject. Once that looks right, add a second path. Build complexity incrementally rather than drawing all paths at once and hoping they all work.

Use shorter durations for complex motion

5-second clips maintain tighter adherence to drawn paths than 15-second clips. Over longer durations, the model may drift from the drawn trajectory, especially for complex curves. For long sequences with precise paths, generate 5-second segments and chain them in Flow.

Camera paths and object paths can conflict

If you draw a camera pan to the right AND an object moving to the right at the same speed, the object will appear stationary on screen. Think about relative motion. A camera path left + object path right creates dramatic relative movement. Same direction at same speed cancels out.

Physically impossible paths (sharp teleportation, objects moving through walls) may be approximated. Shorter clip durations (5s) maintain tighter path adherence than longer ones (15s). Generate at Sunra and iterate.
Can I draw camera movement paths?
Yes. Click on the background (not a specific object) and draw a path. This is interpreted as camera motion: a horizontal line becomes a pan, a line toward the subject becomes a push-in, a curved line becomes an arc shot. See the how-to section above for details.
